Problems that can be fixed

Hands Across The Mountain- Water Quality

I have a few updates to bring to you at this time. I know this is a learning process to where everybody can learn from other people's mistakes and accomplishments. Well as we go along in this process I plan to include all the good as well as the bad things we have ran across that might help someone in the future.
Here goes for this round.
When you go out to take samples ALWAYS take extra equipment and tools, you never know when you might need them. We learned how to be very creative in the field in the first sampling. When we got to the sites we discovered that the equipment provided did not give us a way to sample with the colilert from the bridge. This posses a problem seeing how almost all of our sites are from bridges. I had a ball of twine, a hose clamp, and a screw driver in my vehicle so I created a device to drop our sample bottles over the edge just as we do the coliscan. It took a little work but finally did the job.
The second sampling date showed to be a bit of a challenge as well. When we were in the middle of the sites (way out in the field) we lost our anchor for our makeshift device for the colilert, so again I went to the vehicle and discovered another way of anchoring it and it worked better. We were moving right along when about the eighth site the container that you drop the coliscan bottle down with was lost off the rope as it was being dropped. (ALWAYS check to see if the rope is secure before dropping for the sample) This set us back a few minutes because we were debating on how to retrieve the container. I finally discovered a way to the water and also discovered that it was fairly shallow so I went into the water and retrieved the container. I included all of this in the info because this could happen any time any where and not necessarily somewhere that you would want to wade into, it just so happened it was one of our cleaner sites.
